[previous article] [next article]An agreement between Engineering and Agriculture for the management and operation of a computer network for the Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service has been completed. Engineering responsibilities included support of UNIX microcomputers located in the counties of the state of Indiana and in several Agriculture Departments. Software support is included for the areas: basic UNIX system, dial-up network communication, Oracle data base, 20/20 spread sheet and Crystal Writer word processing. Technical support for Agriculture Extension Service department programmers and operation of Agriculture terminal data switcher (PACX) are included.
These responsibilities will be assumed under direction of the Engineering Computer Network by staff to be added to ECN. These services are a portion of services which the Agricultural Data Network group has been providing. The agreement is to be implemented during the Spring '88 semester.
