New Machines Everywhere!

Csite is one of the ECN sites that is upgrading its Gould machine to a Gould NP-1. The current plan is to run both the CA (PN9080) machine and CN (NP-1) machine, during the semester; with the undergrads on the CN machine. The CA machine is scheduled to be sent back to Gould during Christmas break. Therefore, if you are teaching a class this Spring thathas computer applications, now is a good time to move your software to CN while you have both machines operational for comparison testing. The differences between CA and CN will require program code to be recompiled. I have installed password information for all Chemical and Civil Engineering faculty, staff, and grads on CN, using CB passwords current as of Sunday 7/24/88.

More Suns!

The server GOLDENGATE is going to be connected to the new server EADSBRIDGE which has two new Hitachi disks. Ten new 3/60 suns will be attached to EADSBRIDGE, including two public color suns, for Civil Engineering. (See also "K" site news about Chemical Engineering Suns!)

You Want a Terminal Connected Where?

First, Materials Engineering moved to the MSEE building. Then, with the Civil addition completed, the DSM crew has been busy wiring terminal connections from the computer room to the new building for people moving from Potter, Grissom, etc. Even I have moved - from CE 215 to CHME 209! It has been a hectic summer, to say the least.

Csite Changing...

With Materials Engineering in MSEE, they will have Sally Goldberg (Esite) as their site specialist. They will have their ECN needs met by a new Sun-4 server! I hope all my many MSE friends keep in touch.

Csite has gained 5 Potter research groups: BIDC, CEE, COOP, EPO, and TAP, who are now partially or wholly located in the Civil building. Welcome to Csite!
