Automatically Build Your Web Page

When you are new at working on the Web, the details of getting started can be difficult. WEBINIT, an automated homepage builder, was designed by the ECN to assist you with creating your own homepage and providing your own information on the web.

To Use Webinit:
Within your ECN account, type "webinit" from a UNIX prompt. WEBINIT will:

• create your Web directory
• change directory permissions as necessary
• install some startup files

The program returns status messages as it runs and e-mails information to you when it is finished. You are now a Web information provider! CONGRATULATIONS! Your new Engineering Computer Network URL will be (replace mymachine and mylogin with your information) "http://mymachine.ecn.purdue.edu/~mylogin".
