During the Spring Semester of 1997, the Engineering Web developers sponsored an Engineering-wide student web page contest. A lot of excitement was created with the viewing and judging of over 50 web sites. All of which were interesting in their own right.
Web sites were judged by the following criteria:
A panel of five judges individually examined each of the 54 entries. Each judge was asked to treat all entries the same; select one browser and examine all entries using that browser, view all entries about the same time of day, so load time would be similar, view all entries on the same equipment, look for and weight the same factors for each entry. One judge was interested in graphic design and balance and graded the 54 entries in this light. Another judge was more interested in quality code and rated all 54 entries emphasizing this element.
The Microsoft Corporation provided prizes for the the top three winners.
