Plite New ChE Site Specialist

Steve has been a UNIX weenie for eleven years, the last eight as a Professional UNIX Weenie. After leaving his beloved but low-paying job at Michigan Technological University, he wasted a few years in the fun-filled post-Cold War defense sector before becoming an Operating System Specialist at a wood products company in the lovely State of Washington.

Eventually growing tired of his cushy, high-paying job, Steve sought out a lower-paying university job that required more actual work but came with a longer title. By a lucky coincidence, Chemical Engineering had such an opening. After a nightmarish relocation, he started August 1st as the Manager of Chemical Engineering Computing Facilities/ECN ChE Senior Site Specialist.

During his first week, Steve's motto was, "Working Today to Build a Better Chemical Engineering Computing Experience for Tomorrow". Today, his motto is the more succinct, if slightly less inspirational, "You Want *What* by Tomorrow?".

Steve doesn't have any spare time, but if he did, he thinks he might like to try a bit of oil painting, or maybe lawn tractor repair. He seems to recall having a wife and toddler at home, but he may just be remembering an old TV show.

If you have any questions or suggestions for improving ChE computing facilities that don't involve arson, write them on a crisp $20 bill and slip it under Steve's door at CHME 112D. Or, you can just email him at splite@ecn.purdue.edu.
