WEB Course Administration

ImageMagick
Instructors: D. Jacoby, A. Roswarski

ImageMagick is an interactive display package for the X Windows operating environment. It allows you to manipulate image files of a number of different file types (including GIF, JPEG, and TIFF). Examples will be shown on how to crop, rotate, adjust color, and print text on the image. This is a good package to use for pixel identification needed for creating ISMAPS.

Perl
Instructor: M. Senn

Perl is a popular scripting language used to write system software, text processing tools, and World Wide Web CGI programs. If you know how to use a text editor and have experience in at least one programming language this course will teach you to program in Perl. Perl variables and control structures will be explained. The emphasis will be on the practical by using simple example programs. At the end of the course you should be able to write simple Perl programs for everyday tasks.

PhotoShop

In this short course, we will look at the most basic and useful of PhotoShop's capabilities. We will do this through showing examples and giving some explanation. We will assume that the audience has little or no experience with PhotoShop.

PowerPoint

PowerPoint is Microsoft's presentation software, capable of producting slides, interactive slide shows and overheads. This introductory course will guide users through the essential steps in creating an effective PowerPoint presentation. Topics covered will include using templates, generating backgrounds, implementing transitions, and importing elements from other members of the Microsoft Office suite.
