Summer Internships for Students

The Summer Intern Program of the Purdue University Technical Assistance Program (TAP) is used by small to medium size companies and government agencies in the state of Indiana to obtain summer interns for engineering, technology, and management projects.

In 1996, 77 interns obtained positions through the Summer Intern Program. Purdue professors working with TAP help determine qualified students for each project and maintain contact with interns during the internship. The TAP office at Purdue serves as the coordinator between companies and students.

How The Program Works

• Companies provide project descriptions.
• Students provide education, work experience, and other personal information.
• TAP professors review project descriptions and student information and provide the TAP office with names of ten to twelve qualified students for each project.
• TAP arranges interview schedules for companies and students.
• Job offers are the decision of the company.
• Salaries are negotiated by the company and the student.
