[previous article] [next article]Nelson Howell comes to the ECN from the Krannert Graduate School of Management where he managed UNIX systems and programmed for PCs and the PUCC IBM/VM system. He obtained a degree in Computer Science from Purdue in 1986.
He enjoys a number of hobbies besides computers. Fishing, canoeing and golfing are occasional pastimes, but it is small scale woodworking projects such as building wooden sailing ships and hand spinning tools that claim most of his spare hours. With 4H projects galore and a wife and daughter who are horse crazy and love any animals in general, it sometimes seems as if he lives in a zoo.
Nelson and Karen have been married since 1976 and have five children ages 19 years through 6 months. Susan is attending Purdue University and is pursuing a degree in agriculture. Elizabeth is getting ready to enter junior high school. Rebecca, in second grade, is the scholar of the family and wants to be a teacher. Andrew, at five, wants to be a fireman. Johnathon, the youngest, gets a lot of attention from his older siblings.
