[previous article] [next article]MATLAB 5.1 is now available for dial-in use by students in the Schools of Engineering. A "keyed" version is installed on home machines, and is metered so that a student can check out a software key and use the software for a three-hour timeframe. The software key is returned to the pool at the end of three hours.
Both Windows and Macintosh versions are available. Software keys are available only for work related to the successful completion of Purdue courses. The "keyed" version is not intended for installation and use in offices, academic labs or research labs on campus.
A software key can be accessed via a quick telephone call to a special number set up by the ECN just to serve the keys or via a PPP connection to your local Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Keyed MATLAB installation media and instructions are available from your ECN site specialist (see listing in next column) for loan. The software installation also includes online help files. Your site specialist can also provide the dial-in phone number if you do not currently have an ISP.
