Wireless Conference Management System Installation
Instructions for operating the Wireless Conference Management
System
- Visit
the website to register. https://mobilitypc3.ecn.purdue.edu/registration.php
Here you will need to enter your email address, full name, and choose a
password. Then select which events you
would like to attend. Please make sure
to sign up for all events you wish to attend for this list will determine which
updates you receive.
- You
will need to install the Notification program onto your PDA. There are two options; you can either
download the program to your PC and synch the application to your PDA or you can
visit this website from your Pocket PC and download/install it directly.
- Download to PC, synch to
PocketPC: http://shay.ecn.purdue.edu/~wcms/ActiveSyncInstall.exe
- Download to PC, synch to
Palm: http://shay.ecn.purdue.edu/~wcms/Notification.prc
- Download to PocketPC directly: http://shay.ecn.purdue.edu/~wcms/AirInstall.exe
- When
the program is started you will be asked to log into the application with the
username and password that you registered in step one. If the server name is incorrect you will
receive a connection error. If the
username is wrong then you will be prompted to enter the correct username. If the password is incorrect you will be
prompted with a “try again” message.
- Only
after a successful login the main window will appear and allow you to choose
from four options.
- The
Check for Updates Now button will
immediately check the server for updates and alert you if there are any
available. If there are no updates then
no notification will be given.
- The
Set User Notification button will
take you to a screen where you will enter and time interval of how many minutes
between consecutive checks of the server.
- The
View Event Cart will open up a
webpage with the details of all the events you have currently signed up for.
- The
Logout button will log the user out
of the application. Then if another call
to the application has already been ordered the application will present the
user with the login screen instead of just immediately checking for updates. IMPORTANT: This is the only way to stop
your PDA from checking for updates!!
- The
Exit button has been added on the
Palm application to allow the users to easily exit the program back to their
main screen without logging out. The demo group continually logged out as the
easiest way out of the application.
- The
program will run continually, checking for updates every X number of minutes.
When there are updates available you will be prompted to view these new
updates. If you view and then clear the
event cart, either from a computer or your PDA then it is assumed that you are
aware of the updates and will no longer be prompted for those events.
