In 1990, the Rural Indiana Safer Kids Project (RISK) was initiated
to bolster ongoing efforts to reduce injuries and fatalities among Indiana's
rural and farm children. The RISK Project, conducted by the Agricultural
Safety and Health Program at Purdue University and funded in part by the
Indiana State Department of Health, has sought to achieve this primary
goal by:
Conducting coordinated public awareness campaigns and workshops,
Cultivating networking among interested organizations,
Maintaining surveillance of rural child injuries and fatalities, and
Increasing the availability of safety education materials on the topic
of child injury prevention.
