Aim and Scope

Research on automatic face recognition in images has rapidly developed into several inter-related lines, and this research has both lead to and been driven by a disparate and expanding set of commercial applications. The large number of research activities is evident in the growing number of scientific communications published on subjects related to face processing and recognition.

This special issue will focus on four of the most notable aspects of face recognition by computer:

· Face modeling

· Face detection and localization

· Identifying individuals by their face images

· Face expression recognition

Only original, high-quality papers -- in-line with the CVIU guidelines -- will be considered for publication in this special issue. If an author is concerned whether a potential submission falls within the scope of the special issue, please contact Dr. Aleix M. Martínez at aleix@ecn.purdue.edu.

Submission Guidelines

All papers should be submitted electronically via anonymous ftp. Files should be in PDF or PS format and should be named using the first author's full name (i.e. full_name.ps or full_name.pdf; for multiple submissions full_name1, full_name2, etc. should be used). E.g. jane_doe.pdf

Authors should also submit a cover letter with the following information: title of the submitted article, all authors full names, and, corresponding author's mailing address, day time phone number, FAX and e-mail. Authors should also specify the category of their paper: regular or short communication. Please, send all cover letters via e-mail to Dr. Aleix M. Martínez at aleix@ecn.purdue.edu
