Purdue ANS Outreach Committee
The Outreach Committee is focused on creating programs and activities that give ANS members a chance to outreach to the campus and community. Students visit high schools and middle schools to teach young students about nuclear engineering. The Outreach Committee also organizes ANS member participation in philanthropic events that help out the community. ANS also partners with other organizations, such as Purdue Energy Club and the Purdue Engineering Student Council for various outreach events. The committee also facilitates member participation in any other relevant activities on campus or in the community.

Lugar Collegiate Energy Summit – September 18, 2009
Purdue ANS participated in the inaugural Lugar Collegiate Energy Summit at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. The 15 ANS members were among the 200 participants at this exciting and informative summit. Students attended workshops to learn how to outreach to the community about energy. Senator Lugar also gave a speech and ANS members challenged him with nuclear-related questions. ANS had an exhibit at the summit where members talked to other students and teachers about nuclear power. Overall, the summit was a great experience and the ANS members’ enthusiasm and strong presence had a positive impact on both the other attendees and Senator Lugar and his staff.
