Installing the Spring and Axle

Actually this all went pretty smoothly as it has all been in place before. The parts have been cleaned and painted so it was finally time put them in place. The new bushing were installed in the axle ends and it was bolted to the crossmember. The shackles were then installed at each end of the axle and each leg of the wishbone attached to the shackles. The other ends of the wishbone had the tie rod ends installed and loosely bolted in place. The axle was then slide in place on the wishbone.

It was all going together to easy so it didn't surprise me to hit a snag here. While one perch pin slide right into place the other end was slightly off. I unbolted the wishbone ends from the transmission tunnel and was then able to drop the second perch pin in place by moving the wishbone around. I then adjusted the tie rod ends to align the axle as best I could and bolted the ends back in place.

I did not tighten the perch pins at this point as the swaybar will mount off of the bottom of the pin. These pictures were taken after the swaybar was put in place. Overall this part went pretty smooth. Overall this part of the front suspension went pretty smoothly. If it all goes together like this I'll be real happy, but I'm not counting on it.
