This simulation demonstrates the transient behavior of a SMB from start-up
to cyclic steady-state by looking at mid-cycle concentration profiles.
The SMB is used to separate two species, fructose (BLUE) and glucose (RED).
The SMB has 4 ZONES which are separated by the inputs for the feed and
desorbent and for the outputs for the raffinate and extract phases.
Zone I and Zone IV both consist of 4 columns.
Zone II and Zone III both consist of 2 columns.
The RED curve represents the less strongly adsorbing species
The BLUE curve represents the more strongly adsorbing species
This simulation is based on the Lumped Mass Transfer Parameter Model.
The equilibrium data were correlated using an ANTI-LANGMUIR type isotherm.
