Outreach programs:

ArcView Short-course

We are no longer able to offer free short courses, our Purdue funding has expired and we are grant-based now.

Digital Data Library

Another facet of our program is an effort to enhance existing Purdue University assets through programs like our Digital Data Library and to encourage the use of GIS tools and applications in various university disciplines and classes.

GIS Education Efforts

While we teach graduate-level classes in GIS techniques through Agricultural & Biological Engineering, we also will be assissting in regional educational opportunities both in secondary schools and municipal governments.

Research Opportunities

The CAAGIS charter intends to provide GIS application support for many areas of research.

GIS provides an opportunity to integrate the efforts of researchers in many disciplines. Spatial (mapped) data and GIS analysis capabilities facilitate interaction and allow complex problems to be addressed.

The existance of CAAGIS should enhance the ability of Purdue faculty to obtain sponsored support at the state, national and international levels. Purdue researchers, working in inter-disciplinary teams, have been successful in obtaining federal funding for several significant projects in which GIS plays an important role. Increasingly, federal funding opportunities in the natural resources and environmental areas require strong inter-disciplinary approaches and the use of GIS. CAAGIS can improve the competitiveness of Purdue researchers seeking federal funding.
