  • Jan. 26/09: Here is another e-mail with suggestions regarding quizzes

Dear Prof. Zak,

I have a suggestion for the administration of the quizzes. Perhaps,

they could be published on your web page at some time in the morning

in the day of the quiz, we solve it and then return it in class or

later on that day.

Regarding to grading, as I don't know many grader hours you have

available, it could be considered to correct only part of the quiz

(let's say for example half of it)... and of course, we students,

won't know which part is to be graded so that we solve everything with

great care.

These are just ideas that could be used for brainstorming and trying

to optimize the solution of our classroom-spatial problem.

Regards,

P.S: I do also like the idea of using the blackboard in class. At

least for me, it helps me a lot to fix the concepts (that and

practice, of course)

  • Jan. 22/09: Here is an e-mail I received today. I changed the student’s name

          Dear Prof. Zak,

I am Joe, who is taking ECE 580 this semester. Could you use the blackboard

rather than the slides because we can save the papers. And sometimes you may

add new slides in the original ones, but we've already printed it. So, we need

to print again. That is too wasteful. You are not a "dinosaur" for using the

blackboard. And some of my friends are accustomed to see the blackboard. We

love the blackboard!!  Thank you very much, and I hope you can consider it.

Sincerely,

Joe
