Livestock Yards Software

Create a subdirectory on your computer (such as yards). Download the Livestock Yards program to that subdirectory. The program is compressed (pkzip'ed) into the following file:
yards.zip

Once you have downloaded this file, use the DOS program pkunzip to uncompress/unzip the program (pkunzip *.zip from the DOS prompt in the yards directory).

After the program has been uncompressed, start the program using the yards command at the DOS prompt in the yards directory.

A second method for copying the software to PCs in PUCC labs is the following:

  1. login using your ASM 336 class account
  2. start a DOS window and create a directory on the C: drive for the Livestock Yards software (mkdir yards) and change directories to that location (cd yards)
  3. copy the Livestock Yards program from the ASM 336 class account using the following: copy k:\yards\. .
  4. start the Livestock Yards program (yards)

Helpful hints:

If running the program from a DOS window in MS Windows, make the DOS window full screen using the Alt and Tab keys.
