On-going NEMO-1D Efforts at JPL

At JPL NEMO has been worked on under several aspects:

Parallelization on multiple levels in the code: voltage loop, momentum integration and energy integration using MPI. This parallel code is now ported to:
- the massively parallel Caltech/JPL HP exemplar,
- HPC Beowulf, and
- SGI Onyx/Origin2000.
Benchmarking NEMO on various platforms.
Coupling of NEMO to a genetic algorithm environment in which various NEMO outputs can be optimized.
- Multiband parameter optimization using genetic algorithms (Abstract,pdf presentation).
- Structural resonant tunneling diode analysis using genetic algorithms (Abstract, Presentation).
The automated multiband parameter optimization enabled our entry in the modeling of quantum devices using the sp3d5s - 20 orbital bandstructure model.
We are also working on a 3D quantum device simulation prototype.

Some of this work is summarized in 2 different presentations: 1) to the NRO (Abstract,Presentation) and 2) a conference (large and small screen format).
