Freezing Rain
These pictures were taken after a night of freezing rain at Purdue. It rained at night, and the temperature was just above zero. However, by early morning, the temperature had dropped below zero. As a result, the rain water falling off the leaves and branches froze. When this happens, you get to see one of the most beautiful artifacts of nature in which the water drops freeze on the trees and branches as they are falling down. Trees and shrubs appear like coral. Look at the high resolution images to see more closely what a remarkable phenomenon this is!
