The
Midwest Hazardous Substance Research Center (MHSRC) research efforts
are focused on remediation of contaminated sites by using low-cost
natural technologies. The natural remediation techniques developed
by researches are effective and safe alternatives to many current
remediation systems. The information gained from current and future
research projects can be used by industries and is applicable to
almost any site contaminated with hazardous waste. Remediation provides
restored ecosystem quality and enhances redevelopment options.
How Industries can become a Partner:
Program 1: Matching funds for research project. The MHSRC will provide
$10,000 matching a minimum of $40,000 from an Industrial Partner
for the first year. The second year the MHSRC will provide $5,000
matching a minimum of $45,000.
Program 2: Direct contribution of $10,000/year to support the MHSRC
activities and administration.
Industries can further cooperate by providing:
- Access to sites contaminated with hazardous materials
- Information about contamination and environmental issues at sites
Benefits to Industry Include:
- Use of effective remediation technologies that are accepted by
regulators
- Clean-up of contaminated sites at low cost and low impact to environment
- Reduced threat to humans and environment from wastes
- Copies of all project reports
- Free participation in one workshop per year (max. 3 attendees)
- Attend MHSRC annual conference
- Free consultation with center's staff
- Participation in center's activities
