The goal of the Midwest HSRC Technology Transfer Program is to advance the transfer of information and technology and to facilitate full-scale application of remediation technologies developed from Center research efforts. The program will cooperate with the four other Hazardous Substance Research Centers to transfer technologies and knowledge pertaining to low-cost remediation of sites contaminated with hazardous substances. Also, the program will work with industry, communities, and technology transfer centers to insure that the Center research developments are readily available to all interested parties.

Objectives:
The purpose of the MHSRC Technology Transfer Program is to support the overall mission of the HSRC program by (1) providing technology outreach to communities and industry (2) providing training and information about hazardous substances and environmental issues, (3) advancing research through cooperation between centers, universities, and industry, (4) creating linkages between organizations, (5) advocating transfer of technology, and (6) involving under-represented groups.

Approach:
The Midwest HSRC will advance the transfer of relevant technologies by facilitating the progression of laboratory research to full-scale applications. This will be accomplished by supporting activities that result in innovative technology development, information transfer, laboratory and pilot-scale testing, field demonstrations and full-scale applications.

Expected Results of the Program:
The Midwest HSRC Technology Transfer Program will assist with development of productive linkages between centers and industry through transfer of information from lab-scale to full-scale applications and remediation technology training for individuals and organizations. The program will organize short courses on new remediation technologies and will facilitate joint involvement on research projects. We will also strive to improve communication between research centers and industry through short course presentations, web sites, brochures, and research publications.
