This is the homepage for the "Multimedia Applications: Imaging, Video and Security" Team that is part of ECE495M: Vertically Integrated Projects in Electrical Engineering, for the Spring 2006 semester. The team is divided into two subgroups: the sensor network group and the video surveillance group.
The sensor network group is building on the progress of previous semesters to provide data such as temperature, light intensity and background noise level to a web interface from small sensor modules. The web interface will show this data as well as the results of the analysis of this data. In order to accomplish this goal the group will use mesh network protocols to transfer the data from each sensor to the base station wirelessly. Another significant portion of the group's time will be spent on maximizing the placement of sensors per unit area.
The video surveillance group is working with Exacq Technologies, a security and surveillance company. The group will be using Exacq's eDVR digital video recording board for closed circuit television systems. The board provides several innovative resources for video surveillance and the group intends to use these to develop software to perform analysis on recorded video. Analysis will center on event detection. The two groups will then merge the information provided by the sensor and video networks.
