SEDS is for anyone interested in space!
Every year in April, SEDS hosts a forum where experts from the Aerospace field gather to debate a controversial issue. Topics from past Spring Space Forums include the case for human versus robotic exploration and why should NASA return to the moon.Last year, Purdue SEDS was proud to host Author Robert Zubrin, NASA Chief Engineer Frank Bauer, former ESA head Sigmar Wittig, and Space Entrepreneur Joseph Palaia to discuss "How to Build a Mars Colony." At the forum Mr. Bauer explained very clearly NASA's approach to manned exploration, which will use a lunar outpost as a "stepping stone" to developing the technologies and techniques necessary for manned mission to Mars. Dr. Zubrin, on the other hand, made a passionate case for the importance of being more aggressive and using the technologies we have today to start making manned missions to Mars a reality. Mr. Palaia discussed the goals of his new company, 4Frontiers, which seeks to advance the cause for Martian exploration through a variety of products and attractions. Finally, Dr. Wittig explained his wisdom that a feat such as manned exploration of Mars is wonderful to dream about, but realistically won't be possible for a very long time.

Frank Bauer talks about the strategy of NASA's Constellation Program in Spring Space Forum 2008.
Planning is currently under way for Spring Space Forum 2009. The topic will deal with the changing shape of the NASA as the shuttle retires and a new administration sets its priorities. Below are the members of the planning committee:
